COPING WITH MEDICAL CONDITIONS & HEALTH RELATED DISTRESS
CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS, ADULTS, & OLDER ADULTS
In addition to eating disorders, I specialize in Behavioral Medicine. I work with patients and their loved ones who are coping with weight management challenges, chronic pain, insomnia, chronic illness, cancer diagnoses, cardiac conditions, stress-related physical conditions, infertility, pre and post partum difficulties and smoking cessation. Anyone with health-related emotional distress or who is wanting to make health-related behavioral changes will likely benefit from my Behavioral Medicine background.

TRANSITIONS, QUALITY OF LIFE/WELLNESS, GRIEF AND LOSS
CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS, ADULTS & OLDER ADULTS
Throughout the course of life there are a number of transitions and role changes that occur. Integrating these experiences such that one's quality of life is preserved (or, even better, heightened) is critical to maintaining a balanced sense of self and well-being.  Treatment in my practice acknowledges the significance of transitions and shifting roles and offers support for those facing change. In addition,  I offer grief counseling, including grief counseling for pet loss.

DIFFICULTIES WITH FRIENDS, SCHOOL, CONFIDENCE,  & SELF UNDERSTANDING
CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS
It is not easy being a kid! Many children and adolescents struggle these days with making friends, negotiating the social scene, managing academics, figuring out who they are, what they want, how to hold on and let go as family relationships shift and change, motivation waxes and wanes, and communication is easy then falters... sometimes behavior becomes one's words and messages get tangled up seemingly endlessly.  I offer support to children and adolescents facing challenges in these areas by assisting in social skill development, teaching developmentally appropriate communication and emotional coping strategies, and exploring together the growing self - a unique journey with unique challenges at every age.

MY APPROACH
My approach is to comprehensively explore together the relevance of cognitions (thoughts), emotions (feelings), behaviors (isolated and/or patterns), relationships, environments, and physical health (particularly related to stress management) with respect to treatment goals and achieving an overall sense of wellness. I integrate exploration with adaptive skill development and support my patients as they incorporate their growth in treatment into their daily lives. My approach is informed by developmental factors and individualized treatment needs and goals. I would be happy to discuss my approaches with you.
